EU added value of the Project
To face the transnational criminal reality of human trafficking and smuggling of migrants and asylum seekers, a multidisciplinary and supranational approach is a fundamental added value to deploy effective counter-strategies and interventions.
In this view, Project www.surfandsound.eu contributes to the fight against human trafficking and smuggling of migrants and asylum seekers collecting contents and information from the visible/dark Web into a transnational scope that is neither too wide (thus involving too many intervening factors) nor too narrow (thus risking not to be representative/reliable).
Starting with some key EU MSs (Bulgaria and Romania, two origin/transit countries, and Italy and UK, two destination countries) is the best option due to the differences in the language, forms and sectors of exploitation, etc. that should be first explored and then intensively monitored to understand trafficking in human beings and smuggling of migrants dynamics, so as to deploy and transfer effective counter-measures also to a EU level.
The EU added value will be the possibility of transferring the results of the Project to all EU Member States so as to allow national authorities, LEAs, NGOs and other key agencies/actors (e.g. employers, citizens, local institutions) to use the aforementioned guidelines in anti-trafficking and anti-smuggling actions.
To guarantee an adequate EU dimension and the maximum usability of the methodology, the Project results will be in Bulgaria, Romania, Italy and UK, to reach key actors/institutions and to foster the academic/operative debate on prevention/tackling and dissemination activities in the field of trafficking of human beings and smuggling of migrants and asylum seekers.
